Getting started with Google Gemini

  1. Go to gemini.google.com or install the Gemini app (Google Play or the App Store).
  2. Sign in with a personal Google Account (you must be 13+, or your country's age). Some features work signed out; signing in saves activity and unlocks more.
  3. Type or speak a question in the prompt box.
  4. Ask follow-ups in the same chat to adjust the answer.
  5. Ask Gemini to help with writing, planning or learning; available tools vary by plan and country.
  6. Check Settings & help → Activity to decide whether to keep activity.

Free or paid?

Free plan: yes. Flash-Lite model, image generation, Deep Research, Live, Canvas, Gems. Video needs AI Plus or higher. Paid: the lowest price we could verify on the official pricing page is $99.99/month (other plans may exist).

Privacy setting to check

Open Gemini Apps Activity (in gemini.google.com: Settings & help → Activity) and turn off “Keep Activity”.
