Getting started with Claude (incl. Claude Code)

- Open claude.ai, or install Claude for desktop or the mobile app.
- Create an account or sign in (you must be 18+ and in a supported location).
- Start a new chat and describe your task with context and examples.
- Upload documents or images to the chat if Claude needs them.
- Refine with follow-ups. On the free plan, usage limits reset every five hours.
- Review Settings → Privacy to choose whether chats help improve models.

Free or paid?
Free plan: yes. chat, web search, files & code execution, Artifacts, connectors. Claude Code and Research need Pro. Paid: the lowest price we could verify on the official pricing page is $20/month (other plans may exist).
Privacy setting to check
Settings → Privacy → turn off “Help improve our AI models” (claude.ai/settings/data-privacy-controls).
